Thematic Session of the Inter-agency State Commission of the State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration

September 13, 2016, the State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality in partnership with UNAG’s "Promoting Integration, Tolerance and Awareness Program in Georgia” [PITA] organized a thematic session of the Inter-agency State Commission of the State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration: "Media and Access to Information.”

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Mrs. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and Social Development Team Leader of USAID/Georgia’s Democracy, Governance and Social Development Office Ms. Tamara Sirbiladze opened the session.

Georgian Public Broadcaster’s (GPB) Executive Producer Ms. Nino Khidasheli introduced latest developments in the area of Public Broadcaster’s coverage into national languages. Specifically, the GPB has started broadcasting news in Abkhazian, Ossetian and Russian languages since August 22; the news programs on 18.00 PM and 20.00 PM, respectively, have simultaneous translations into Azerbaijani and Armenian languages. In addition, the web-site that runs into five languages is due, providing access to information in Abkhazian, Ossetian, Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian languages.
