Training on Civic Activism

2015-05-13

Between April 27 and May 2, 2015, UNAG hosted a one week training for youth. The event united 24 young people from the region to gain new knowledge and skills on becoming more active in their respective communities. The training focused on topics such as the cause of stereotypes, bias and discrimination, civic activism and empowerment of youth. The trainers helped the participants better understand their local contexts, the problems their communities face and what they could do individually to contribute to eliminating the various issues. The participants learned about gender equality, domestic violence and other social problems. They also learned the basics of needs assessment, project planning and implementation and came up with individual action plans that will be implemented in their respective communities in the upcoming months.
