UNA Georgia Promoting Millennium Development Goals in Georgia

At the September 2000 Millennium Summit in New York, 191 nations – including Georgia –unanimously adopted the Millennium Declaration, which led to the articulation of eight specific Millennium Development Goals, to be achieved between 1990 and 2015. The first national report of Georgia on Millennium Development Goals emphasizes the necessity and inescapability of such approach was developed under the leadership of Georgian Government in 2004.</p> <p>UNA-Georgia within the framework of the joint program with UNA-Sweden<a href="http://una.ge/admineng/mdgpromo.php">"Confidence Building and MDG Promotion in the South Caucasus”</a>on October 18-20 is to arrange the MDG workshop in Tbilisi, Georgia.</p> <p>The main aim of the workshop is to establish the working group and development of the strategy for further cooperation. The MDG monitoring working group (WG) will be consisted from the leading Georgian NGOs.</p> <p>WG will overview the progress of the Georgia in fulfilment of the MDG declaration, study and analyze public opinion and elaborates the recommendations of Civil Society Organizations for successful MDGs implementation.</p> <p>The Country MDG Report reflecting all abovementioned aspects will be developed and published in the end of this year. The report format will be simple and index-base. This will be the first unprecedented effort made by Georgian NGOs in MDGs monitoring and reporting area.
