Participate in National Model UN conference

The United Nations Association of Georgia invites active students from five Georgian universities to participate in simulation game – Model United Nations (MUN). The initiative is being implemented by UNA Georgia with support of UNDP.</p> <p>The main goals of Model UN program are to increase awareness of Georgian youth on UN’s mission and values, also, to obtain knowledge on the main issue of UN’s current agenda "Sustainable Development” and to acquire practical and communicative skills.</p> <p>The program comprises the following five universities: Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Ilia Chavchavadze State University, Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations, Georgian-American University (GAU), University of Georgia.</p> <p>The participants for Model UN conference will be selected on basis of an open competition and the program is divided in two stages: Model UN at Universities and National Model UN.</p> <p>On the first stage, the students will be selected according to CV, motivation letter and a brief interview. Afterwards they will be the representatives of different countries and on the conference at their universities in the role of the delegates of the respective countries they will make discussions and negotiations concerning air and water pollution. Six best delegates from each universities will be selected for National Model UN.</p> <p>The second stage includes simulation of UN Security Council Session. Before the session the participants will have a preparation period and be trained in making effective presentations, also will have seminars on leadership, conflict management and will participate in team-building activities.</p> <p>At the closing ceremony three best delegates will be awarded with memorable presents and UN-related books.</p> <p>The deadline for the submission of CV and motivation letter is 12:00 p.m. on November 10, 2009</p> <p>For participation contact Model UN coordinators at above-mentioned universities or a representative of the United Nations Association of Georgia:<a href="mailto:achiko@una.ge">achiko@una.ge</a></p> <!-- EndFragment --> </p> <!-- EndFragment -->
