The United Nations Association of Georgia continues to lend its knowledge and expertise across the South Caucasus. Recently, UNA Georgia conducted a Training of Trainers forModel UN. The event took place in Gudauri, Georgia on December 8-9, 2005 and represented the first time that a Model UN Training of Trainers has been conducted on a regional level, including participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. A youth task force – combining a total of 12 youth representatives from the Armenian UN Association, the UN Association of Azerbaijan Initiative Group and UNA-Georgia – attended the two-day training, which was devoted to effective planning and organization of Model UN sessions.

The major objective of the event was to allow the young participants acquire necessary skills and knowledge about how to conduct Model UN sessions, both in their home countries and at the regional level. The representatives from UNA Georgia didnot hesitate to share their experience and resources they have gained in this sphere and gladly shared knowledge about managing the diplomatic role play games they have initiated over the last decade. Aside from sharing practical experience the participants were given a variety of theoretical materials about managing the playing process, ranging from content and training package selection to administrative procedures. Model UNis an international diplomatic game, which is the most widely-used tool for peaceful and democratic problem solution among UNAs throughout the world.
