UNA Georgia launched a cycle of Model UN Sessions at five universities of Tbilisi

UNA Georgia organized a cycle of Model UN Sessions at five universities of Tbilisi. Students from Ivane Javakhishvili State University, Ilia State University, Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations, Georgian-American University (GAU) and University of Georgia actively participated in Model UN Sessions.</p> <p>The participants of MUN were selected on basis of CVs, motivation letter and interviews.</p> <p>The main topic of Model UN Sessions was "Air Pollution” as a main issue of UN current Agenda "Sustainable Development”. The participants in the role of delegates discussed problematic ecological issues and tried to find specific tools and mechanisms designed to eliminate negative effects of pollutants worldwide. The participants in the role of delegates made open speeches and formal/informal negotiations. Afterwards, young diplomats elaborated resolutions.</p> <p>The participants of Model UN obtained knowledge about ecological problems,modern trends and challenges that humanity is facing nowadays and acquired essential skills to make effective presentations, public speeches and debating. Obtained experience will help young students to become leaders, to produce professional impetus, to think as global citizens and to contribute in civil society development process.</p> <p>At the closing ceremony, six winners were chosen and they will take part in National Model UN which will take start on December 21-22 at Sheraton Metekhi Palace.</p> <p>The cycle of Model UN sessions were organized by UNA Georgia with financial support of UN Development program (UNDP).</p> <p>If you would like to take a participation in Model UN, contact UNA Georgia H.Q.
