UNA Georgia celebrated UN week dedicated to environment protection

On October 17-24, The United Nations Association of Georgia celebrated UN week in cooperation with UN Youth Club at Ilia Chavchavadze State University.</p> <p>During the UN week, the representatives of UNA Georgia and UN Youth Club organized various events focused on promotion UN and it’s values and conducted awareness raising campaign on environment protection-related issues.</p> <p>The UN week was marked in the largest IPD settlement in Tserovani. The representatives of UNA Georgia represented main problems related to environment, screened animations on global warming and familiarized children with working experience and approaches of UN in solving environmental problems. The drawing competition on the theme "environment” was organized and five best participants selected by famous sketch artist Zaal Sulakauri were awarded with child encyclopedias.</p> <p>Within the frameworks of UN week, the cycle of seminars were held at three universities of Georgia: Tbilisi Ivane Javaxishvili State University, Ilia Chavchavadze State University and Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations. The seminars aimed at informing students about mission and role of UN in meeting global challenges. The students had discussions on MDGs and expressed their opinions on the ways of meeting the targets. Also, they defined their role in overcoming environmental problems and discussed their involvement in environment protection campaign.</p> <p>The set of events conducted by UNA Georgia and UN Youth Club were supported by the United Nations Development Program.
