2022-11-22

Today, the launch event of USAID Unity Through Diversity Program was held at TBC Concept space. The Program is implemented by UNA Georgia together with partner organizations, with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID Unity Through Diversity is a 5-year Program that connects public and private sectors to co-address the political, social, and economic barriers to the integration of ethnic and religious minorities in Georgia. The Program works to increase minority inclusion in policymaking, expand mutually beneficial social, civic, and economic linkages between minority and majority populations, reduce the barriers to civic and economic integration, and by doing so – to strengthen Georgia’s societal resilience.

The Program seeks to contribute to broadening and solidifying Georgia’s national identity, and to celebrating its unity through diversity.

The public attending the event was addressed by US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan who spoke about the importance of the Program and how it will support the Government of Georgia, civil society, and the private sector to strengthen social and economic linkages between minority and majority populations and broaden the Georgian civil identity to allow for, and celebrate the inclusion of, diverse ethnic and religious affiliations.

Lasha Jugheli, Chief of Party of the USAID Unity Through Diversity Program, presented goals, objectives, and expected results of the Program.

Before the start of the event, the participants had the opportunity to view the exhibition dedicated to the important role of ethnic and religious minorities in the economic, social, and political processes of Georgia.
