“The support from the (FID) program’s grant contest enabled us to expand our activities in 4 villages in Borjomi, and we started cooperation with various organizations. New experiences and accepted practices gave us the incentive to get the status of a non-governmental organization from the initiative group. Therefore, we were able to instill a love of non-formal education among the youth of Borjomi, and by doing so we found very active young people.” - Maia Khutsishvili, “ Fostering Inclusive Democracy (FID)” Program Participant.

My city, Borjomi, is often perceived only as a tourist area. Everyone likes a beautiful environment, high and green mountains, peace, and simply the beauty of nature. I am also one of those people who are in love with Borjomi, although this city is not only a tourist area for me. I always wanted there to be a place for young people in Borjomi, where they could evolve as a person, share their ideas and views with each other, or simply discover new opportunities and show them to others. That's why I created the "Borjomi Youth Center" together with my friends. Each meeting, public lecture, project, or activity that puts a smile on the faces of young people from Borjomi, my fellow citizens, is the biggest achievement for me. The organization is only 5 months old, but I believe it will soon become bigger and more successful.

In fact, the "Fostering Inclusive Democracy" (FID) program’s and the UNA Georgia helped me to take a step towards these great goals. Borjomi Youth Center was initially a dream and enthusiasm of several active young people from Borjomi. The support from the (FID) programs grant contest enabled us to expand our activities in 4 villages in Borjomi, and we started cooperation with various organizations. New experiences and accepted practices gave us the incentive to get the status of a non-governmental organization from the initiative group. Therefore, we were able to instill a love of non-formal education among the youth of Borjomi, and by doing so we found very active young people. They are the ones with whose help everyone will soon get to know Borjomi as the homeland of active young people and not just a beautiful tourist town.

The  Fostering Inclusive Democracy (FID) program is implemented by UNA Georgia in cooperation with the Swedish UN Association and with the financial support of ForumCiv / SIDA.
